MCN Marks 30th Anniversary, Honours Dr Chukwu

The Methodist Church Nigeria (MCN), Diocese of Nneochi, today (August 3, 2025) celebrated its 30th anniversary at Wesley Cathedral, Ngodo Isuochi, Umunneochi LGA of Abia State, marking three decades of spiritual growth, community service, and unwavering faith.


In his anniversary address, the Bishop of Nneochi Diocese, Rt. Rev. I.K. Tasie, commended past and present church leaders, government officials, and members of the congregation for their steadfast commitment to the Diocese’s mission. He reflected on the Church’s achievements, challenges, and ongoing efforts to impact lives positively.


A major highlight of the event was the conferment of the prestigious title of Elder of the Methodist Church Nigeria on Dr. Oluebube Chukwu, Head of the Due Process and Public Procurement Bureau, Abia State.



In his goodwill message, Dr. Chukwu expressed gratitude for the honour, attributing the recognition to the grace of God. 




He congratulated the Diocese on its milestone and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting faith-based initiatives and community development.

The celebration featured the ceremonial unveiling and cutting of the anniversary cake, with Dr. Chukwu and other dignitaries participating in the symbolic gesture. The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, who represented Governor Dr. Alex Otti, lit the anniversary candle on behalf of the governor.

The climax of the event was the presentation of awards to individuals who have significantly contributed to the Church’s growth and development. Dr. Chukwu received a distinguished award and medal from Bishop Tasie in recognition of his outstanding service and contributions to societal advancement.

The anniversary drew a large gathering of clergy, government officials, congregants, and well-wishers from within and beyond Abia State, reinforcing the enduring legacy of the Diocese of Nneochi.
