The Head of the Due Process and Public Procurement Bureau, Abia State, Dr. Oluebube A. Chukwu, has been conferred with the Youth Ambassador Award by Rotary Club International.

The honour was bestowed during the installation ceremony of the 45th President of the Rotary Club of Umuahia, Rotarian Ifeoma Kelenna-Obonna, held in Umuahia, Abia State.

According to the club, the award recognises Dr. Chukwu’s outstanding contributions to human capacity development, with a particular focus on youth empowerment and grassroots community service.

In his acceptance speech, the Isuochi-born technocrat and founder of the Oluebube Chukwu Foundation, thanked the Rotary Club for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to humanitarian service and rural development. He also urged young people to support Governor Alex Otti’s administration, describing the governor as “a youth-friendly leader dedicated to transforming Abia State.”

Outgoing club president, Rotarian Temitope Nnaomah, in her valedictory speech, thanked members for their support during her tenure, which saw the execution of 32 projects across education, healthcare, and communal hygiene. She, alongside members Rtn Samclef, Rtn Grace Okaro, and Rtn Miracle Chukwuonye, received special commendations for outstanding service.

In her inaugural address, the new president, Rtn Ifeoma Kelenna-Obonna, pledged to uphold Rotary International’s ideals and unveiled plans to embark on key projects, including borehole installations in rural communities and public toilet facilities in markets.

The event also featured fundraising for humanitarian initiatives, presentations of awards to philanthropists and community leaders, and an emotional farewell to the outgoing president, who was presented with a framed portrait as a parting gift.

Dignitaries in attendance included the Abia State Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Chimezie Ukaegbu, and Signature Bank Branch Manager, Umuahia, Mr. Ekene Ochiabuto, alongside several distinguished Rotarians.
