The Head, Due Process and Public Procurement Bureau, Abia State, Dr. Oluebube Chukwu, has hailed Governor Alex Otti’s launch of the Abia Leadership Academy Bootcamp, describing it as a transformative platform that will set the state’s youth on a path to greatness.

Speaking with journalists after the event at Government College, Umuahia, Abia State recently, Dr. Chukwu said the programme would give young people the right direction, provide timely engagement, and help curb crime. He urged the government to sustain the initiative as a way of stabilising and empowering the state’s youth to become responsible leaders.

Governor Otti, represented by his Deputy, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, declared the bootcamp open, explaining that it targets teenagers and young adults aged 16 to 20. The programme, he said, is designed to instill leadership skills, strong values, and problem-solving abilities.

“In Abia, our vision is to raise young people who are not just future leaders in theory, but active leaders in practice today,” he said, urging participants to take the programme seriously and build strong personal character.
Secretary to the State Government and Organising Committee Chairman, Prof. Kenneth Kanu, described the bootcamp as a platform for grooming empathetic leaders capable of making decisions that positively impact society.
Lead Consultant, Mr. Johnson Abbally, commended the governor’s vision, noting that the bootcamp aims to produce global leaders who can redefine governance in Nigeria.
Other speakers, including Information and Culture Commissioner Prince Okey Kanu, Industry and SME Commissioner Mazi Mike Akpara, and Civil Service Commission Chairman Pastor Eno Jerry Eze, advised participants to maintain a positive mindset, choose their friends wisely, and maximise the opportunity.
The multi-day programme features workshops, mentorship sessions, and practical exercises to equip participants with resilience, responsibility, and innovation.
